Bacrot, however, played in a full swing after the shaky start and beat Dominguez with white to sign fantastic 4.0/5 in the second tournament leg.

Despite the loss in the last round, Sasa Jevtic earned his first IM norm thanks to the convenient rating distribution. He slipped though to the third place in the final standings. Talented youngster from FYROM Filip Pancevski and Paracin resident FM Mladen Milenkovic snatched necessary wins in the last round to fulfill their own six-points IM norms and tie the first place at the tournament. Pancevski was declared winner on better additional criteria.

This event, established back in 2005, is one of the main projects of the Chess Academy of Armenia, alongside the Jermuk junior competition. The tournament is usually featuring young players from Armenia and abroad.

Untitled local player Sasa Jevtic is surprisingly leading after seven rounds of the International Chess Tournament “Sport Summer 2008″, which is currently ongoing in Paracin, Serbia. He had a slow start, innocently drawing a couple of games, but when suddenly an opportunity presented itself, Sasa firmly seized it. The then-leading FM Boroljub Zlatanovic should be praised for a Tal-like Rook sacrifice against Jevtic’s Caro-Kann in the 6th round, but Black defended coolly to grab a full point.
