GM Alexandrov of Belarus and Russians GM Kokarev and GM Bocharov defeated their lower rated opposition and moved into joint lead with five points each. Untitled Indian Udeshi Aditya shocked GM Vokarev with black and is now in the company of Grandmasters who all have 4.5 points.

The third edition of the Mumbai Mayor’s Cup chess tournament started on 2nd June and continues over eleven rounds of Swiss system until 10th June. The event, which is being organised by Venus Chess Academy and conducted by the Bombay Chess Association, is taking place at the Goregaon Sports Club.

Anna Muzychuk takes Maia Chiburdanidze Cup

The Women International Chess Tournament “Maia Chiburdanidze Cup” was held from 25th May to 3rd June in Tbilisi, under management by the Georgian Chess Federation. 58 players from four countries took participation. Top-seeded IM Anna Muzychuk overshadows the rest of the field and claims the tournament with convincing 8 points from nine games, full point ahead of the second placed IM Nino Khurtsidze.

China Chess Championships – Round Eight

The 2010 China Chess Championships are taking place from 24th May to 4th June 2010 in Xinghua, Jiangsu Province. Earlier joint leader Grandmaster Zhou Jianchao lost two games in a row and slipped down to the middle of the crosstable. Bu Xiangzhi is now sharing the first place with the experienced GM Li Shilong. Top seed Hao Wang and GM Ni Hua are half a point behind.
