The 5th Torneo Internacional A.D. San Juan is being played from 25th to 31st July at the Hotel Blanca de Navarra in Pamplona, Spain. 108 players from 18 countries, including 18 Grandmasters, compete in the 9-round Swiss event. First place is 3.000 € worth.

The 9-round Swiss open was organized by the Municipality of Leros, E.S.TH. (Union Of Chess Players Of Thessaloniki) and Educational and Cultural Youth Club “Artemis”. The prize fund amounted to 5600 EUR, with 1200 EUR being reserved for the winner.

Chessclub Jyväs-Shakki organized the 21st Open Heart of Finland in Jyväskylä, Finland, on 11-17th July, 2011. The playing venue was Harju Building of Jyväskylä College, Sepänkatu 3, Jyväskylä. The Heart of Finland tournament is the biggest annual chess event in Finland.

The 31st Villa de Benasque Open was held from 7th to 16th July in Benasque, Spain. A traditionally massive tournament gathered 444 players from 33 chess federations. 35 Grandmasters and 32 International Masters participated. The tournament was a 10-round Swiss with more than 20,000 EUR in prizes. The winner takes 4,000 EUR home.

The Open A had 107 participants from 20 countries, among them 12 Grandmasters and 20 International Masters. GM Mikhail Ulibin (2538), the only Russian in the field, confidently won the first place with 7.5 points.
