Pavel Eljanov
Ukrainian Grandmaster Pavel Eljanov convincingly won the 2009 Bosna Chess Tournament by claiming 7.0 points from ten rounds, point and a half ahead of the second placed Borki Predojevic. Eljanov finished most of the business in the first four days when he scored three wins. Later on, he just maintained the lead and reassured the position by winning another game in the second tournament leg.
Second place was shared by local GM Borki Predojevic and Chinese Wang Hao, which can be described as huge success for both players. Predojevic, who is member of chess club "Bosna" and regular in this annual tournament, was the lowest rated player in the starting field. Wang Hao, on the other hand, suffered two defeats in the first leg, which knocked him to the bottom of the crosstable. He then recovered and won three out of five games in the second part to climb up and join Predojevic.
The top seed Sergei Movsesian of Slovakia, who played first board for chess club "Bosna" at the last European Club Cup, will be slightly disappointed with the mediocre 50% score.
