Out of 12 participants of the round-robin event 3 grandmasters have the ELO rating higher than 2700 and 6 participants have the ELO rating higher than 2600. The average rating of 2650,5, which corresponds to the 17th FIDE category, makes the event the strongest Championship ever in the history of independent Ukraine.

The World Cup will take place in Khanty-Mansiysk, the Russian Federation, from 27 August to 20 September 2011. Over 100 chess players from 40 countries of the world will participate in this important international event. The tournament consists of 7 rounds 3 days each. The defeated will be out of the main competition, however they will be able to take part in the Ugra Governor’s Cup.
