A quick peace treaty with Austria in the last round of the European Senior Teams Championship handed the gold medal to the team of Russia. Congratulations! Russia had won six matches, tied three and collected a total of 15 match points.

The 1st stage of the SP Masters Series was played on April 12th, in the “Club Athletico Paulistano”, located in Sao Paulo, the biggest city in Brazil. The tournament had eight players – 6 GMs, 1 IM and 1 FM. The initiative belongs tot he ADX (Association for the Chess Development), and the next tournament will be played on May 10th, at “Club Hebraica”, also in Sao Paulo.

The 38th Torneo Internacional de Ajedrez de La Roda was played from 20th to 24th April in La Roda, Albacete, Spain. 188 players participated in a 9-round Swiss tournament with a time control of 90 minutes plus 30 seconds increment. The organizers have provided a rich prize fund of 10.000 EUR, with 2.000 EUR reserved for the winner.
