Ashwin holds Grandmaster Adhiban, Postny moves into sole lead
It turned out to be a mixed day for Indians, even as Israeli Grandmaster Evgeny Postny took the sold lead with 6.5 points after the seventh round of the India Cements Ltd 3rd Chennai Open International Grandmaster Chess tournament at Multipurpose Indoor Stadium, Chennai.
While Karnataka star International Master M S Thej Kumar defeated fellow Grandmaster Abhijeet Gupta, rest of the Indians in the top point bracket tasted defeat.
In a battle between two local stars, International Master and former Asian Junior Champion Ashwin Jayaram held Grandmaster Baskaran Adhiban to a draw. The tactical Sicilian game between the two talented youngsters ended in a draw after 32 moves.

Following the tournament leader Evgeny Postny at 6.0 points were GMs Alexander Areshchenko, Ni Hua, Alon Greenfeld, Yaroslav Zherebukh, Yuriy Kuzubov and IMs Tamir Nabaty and M S Thej Kumar.
