FIDE Women Grand Prix in Nalchik

Batkhuyag Munguntuul stuns Humpy Koneru in round two

The 2nd round of the third stage of the FIDE Grand Prix series among women saw further success for the players with White pieces.

Among the three decided games, the most surprising was the outcome in WGM Batkhuyag Munguntuul – GM Humpy Koneru, in which Mongolian chess player earned a valuable victory.

After the great start, Russian player Baira Kovanova could not maintain the streak, and succumbed against GM Nana Dzagnidze. Former World Champion Zhu Chen was the last winner of the day as she broke the resistance of IM Lilit Mkrtchian.
