Gibraltar is one of the chess crown jewels

President of the English Chess Federation CJ de Mooi visits the Festival

CJ de Mooi, President of the English Chess Federation, best known from the long running BBC quiz show Eggheads, is in Gibraltar for the final days of the Tradewise Chess Festival 2011.

“This is my first visit to Gibraltar,” he says, “and I’m delighted it’s to visit the Tradewise tournament. This is one of the chess crown jewels and this year’s line up only confirms its pre eminent position in the international chess calendar.”

The picture shows CJ, with Simon Williams and Stuart Conquest, broadcasting to the world about chess on the Rock on his arrival yesterday. CJ is also an established actor in film and theatre, a huge fan of snooker, and has visited over 50 countries, and says he is delighted to add Gibraltar to his list.
