The 10th Montreal International Chess Tournament under sponsorship of Empresa Group is taking place from 27th August until 7th September in Montréal, Canada. Some of the world’s top players, namely Étienne Bacrot and Arkadij Naiditsch, and a strong selection from the neighboring United States are forming a very competitive field. The tournament is of “only” 15th FIDE category because the organizers have decided to grant invitations for four qualifiers from the Quebec Invitational Chess Championship.

After three rounds, Bacrot, Naiditsch and Argentinian Grandmaster Anton Kovalyov are leading with 2.5 points each. Mark Bluvshtein, who shined at the Canadian Open but later failed to qualify for the World Cup from the closed championship, beat Alexander Onischuk and advanced to 4th place. The games are very interesting, replay the selection bellow.
