The 10th Montreal International Chess Tournament under sponsorship of Empresa Group is taking place from 27th August until 7th September in Montréal, Canada. After a beautiful win in round seven, Arkadij Naiditsch catches up with Étienne Bacrot, and with two further draws for both players, they are now leading the race with 6.0 points each. The young French Grandmaster Sébastien Mazé surged forward to third place thanks to the exceptionally played ending against Varuzhan Akobian (replay bellow).

Anton Kovalyov and Vinay Bhat, both qualified for this tournament from the Quebec Invitational Chess Championship, are sharing 4th place with 5.0 points each.
