Philadelphia International and World Open 2010

June 25-29th and June 29-July 5th in Philadelphia

The World Open 2010 will take place from June 29 to July 5, 2010 at the Valley Forge Convention Plaza, Scanticon and Radisson Hotels. Each tournament will be over 9 rounds with norms available in the Open and Under 2400 Sections. The projected prize fund is $250,000 (based on 1100 paid entries) and at least $175,000 is guaranteed.

The list of players is not available yet, Chris Bird will provide coverage on the CCA Chess Tournaments website.

Meanwhile, the Philadelphia International 2010, which started on 25th June at the same venue, is currently observing the final round. The tournament is 9 rounds Swiss with norms available. The prize fund is $7,000 guaranteed.

IM Bryan Smith, Philadelphia resident, had a 6.5/8 lead heading into the last round. GM Sundaraja Kidambi of India, IM Anthony Bellaiche of France and IM-elect Mackenize Molner were tied on second place with 6.0 points each.
