The 1st Roseto International Festival was held on 4th - 12th June at the "Villaggio di Abruzzo" in Roseto degli Abruzzi, on the Adriatic coast in central Italy. GM Vladimir Epishin from Russia was the top seed, while IM Axel Rombaldoni was top rated Italian player.
After nine rounds of play GM Oleg Romanishin took a clear first place with 7.0 points. Half a point behind are IM Misa Pap (Serbia) and GM Vladimir Epishin, and further bellow IM Rombaldoni, IM Roland Salvador (Philippines) and GM Arkadij Rotstein (Germany).
Alessandro Bove from Rome, a young Italian FIDE Master, has had fantastic performance and claimed a well deserved IM norm. He won against GM Arkadij Rotstein and GM Evgeny Sveshnikov and drew with GM Vladimir Epishin.

During the tournament, the Circolo Arrocco chess club from Rome and the Scacchierando.net Blog held two coaching lectures conducted by world famous Grandmasters Evgeny Sveshnikov and Oleg Romanishin. The lectures were free and open for everyone.
