Wojtaszek and Fressinet Leading in Pamplona

4th International Chess Tournament A.D. San Juan, 24th July to 1st August

The 4th International Chess Tournament A.D. San Juan is taking place from 24th July to 1st August at the Hotel "Iruña Park" in Pamplona, Spain.

The round robin with 10 players is the main event, and so far seven rounds have been played. Grandmasters Radoslaw Wojtaszek and Laurent Fressinet are currently leading with five points each, full point ahead of the group of chasers. It is interesting that during the 2008 World Chess Championship in Bonn, Wojtaszek and Fressinet assisted the preparation of Anand and Kramnik respectively .

After losing to Wojtaszek (replay games bellow), top seeded Alexander Morozevich drew two games in succession and is now sharing the third place. GM Kurnosov and local players IM Reinaldo and GM Lopez Martinez are still without a single victory next to their names.
