India dominant in the Asian Youth 2011

14th to 22nd May 2011 in Subic Freeport, Olongapo City, Philippines

The Asian Youth currently held at Subic Bay has just passed the halfway mark of 5 rounds with 4 more rounds to go. India looks to be the dominating force with 17 of their players in top 10 positions in the 6 age group categories. Vietnam and Iran have 9 players in the top 10 and host country Philippines have 7 players in the top 10.

Yesterday was a rest day with many of the participants and their coaches and parents taking the needed time off to rest and recharge. It is expected today’s round will be charged with high energy and exciting games.

Subic is a well known resort which has played host to many World and Asian sports festivals. It is an ideal venue for youth events enclosed in a well guarded enclave with a number of recreational attractions for children. The playing hall is conveniently in the official hotel. Many Asian chess championships have been successfully held in Subic which is about 2-1/2 hours from Manila or one hour from Clark air base.
