Reggio Emilia Round Seven

Zoltan Almasi and Gata Kamsky to decide the tournament winner

One of the world’s longest running tournaments, hosted in Reggio Emilia, Italy, is currently observing its 52nd edition. The event is taking place from 28th December 2009 until 6th January 2010.

Zoltan Almasi and Gata Kamsky are engaged in the pursuit for the first place, with two rounds remaining. Hungarian Grandmaster, earlier the winner of the jubilee 50th tournament, holds 5.5 points and half a point advantage ahead of Kamsky. Another full point behind are Italian Grandmasters Fabiano Caruana and Michele Godena.

Daniele Vocaturo pressed too hard in a balanced position against Konstantin Landa and ended up losing the game. In the next round, Vocaturo “forced” Viktor Bologan to sign his first draw in the tournament.
