Peter Svidler leading at the Russian Superfinal

Alexander Lastin half a point behind

Three days of heavy fight at the 2008 Russian Superfinal Championship have obviously exhausted the players and most of them quickly drew in the fourth round looking forward to the first rest day (Tuesday, October 7th). The only exception being a 128-moves long struggle in the Queen ending between Alexander Ryazantsev and Nikita Vityugov, which eventually also finished in a draw.

Peter Svidler is currently leading with 3.5 points, half a point ahead of ultra-solid Alexander Lastin who is currently at his peak rating of 2651. Last year champion Alexander Morozevich is at 50 percent, but we will certainly see more from him in the following rounds. Talented Ernesto Inarkiev is surprisingly on the last place with a single draw after four games.
