The fourth edition of the Ruy Lopez International Festival is taking place on 11-19th June in Villafranca de los Barros, Extremadura, Spain. Numerous events are planned, some of them being youth and amateur tournaments, lectures, master tournament, meetings, rapid open…

The main event of the Festival is the round robin Master Tournament with 8 players. The competition is short but extremely exciting, with only few draws in the scoreboard.

Ivan Cheparinov defeated Deisy Cori in round six and secured at least shared first place in the competition. Cheparinov also won the last year edition.

The other three games were tied, but curiously, all draws were reached after fearless struggle and with perpetual checks. The organizers really did fantastic job in player selection.
