Serbia Chess Championship – Round 2

Ivan Ivanisevic leading after two consecutive wins

GM Ivan Ivanisevic wins another game to take an early lead after two rounds of the 2009 Serbian Chess Championship. Playing the Black side of his favourite Sicilian defence, Ivanisevic calmly reacted to IM Zlatic’s eccentric 16. Nf5 by taking over the central files and diagonals, forcing his opponent to resignation after further eight moves.

GM Branko Damljanovic recovered after the starting loss and nicely outplayed his colleague Igor Miladinovic in the double-rook ending. Junior Ivan Sarenac also scores first win to climb to the second place tie.
