Serbia Chess Championship – Round 7

Ivan Ivanisevic holding a two point margin after seven rounds

Grandmaster Ivan Ivanisevic continued his domination at the 2009 Serbia Chess Championship and is now two points ahead of the rest of the field, after only seven rounds have been played.

GM Dejan Antic, who scored three consecutive wins against higher rated opposition, and GM Milos Perunovic with two straight victories, have joined GM Sinisa Drazic on the second place tie. Junior champion Ivan Sarenac is holding well against the seasoned players, having collected three points thus far. On the other hand, usually solid IM Mihailo Zlatic is struggling to find his form and has only half a point from seven games. GM Branko Damljanovic continued with sharp play and is still without a single draw.

The Championship is taking place on 2-15th April in the city of Kragujevac. Thursday, April 9th, is the only rest day.
