Mark Paragua is first, GM Wang Yue far behind
The men chess event at the World Mind Sports Games was hit harder by the financial crisis. From the initially announced 60 players, 32 have shown up. The three top seeded are the Chinese members of the 2700+ club Wang Yue, Bu Xiangzhi, and Ni Hua. However, the dramatic games in the blitz event left them far behind in the standings. Ni Hua is 12th with 6,0/11, Bu Xiangzhi 15th with 5,5/11 points, and most surprisingly Wang Yue is 23rd with 4,5/11 points. Yue lost round 8-11 games in a row from GM Drozdovskij, GM Akobian, GM Wang Hao, and GM Dmitri Reinderman.
